We count down the top three (3) things to look forward to at the African Blockchain Conference 2019 in Uganda, taking place from 3 to 5th July 2019.

The African Blockchain Conference in Uganda has become a staple in the development of blockchain technology on the African continent.

The event has brought together government leaders, regulators, enthusiast, developers since last year with the biggest highlight so far being the appearance of the President of Uganda as a Keynote Speaker and H.E. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim; former President of Mauritius at last years conference.

The 2019 edition organized by CryptoSavannah and the Blockchain Association of Uganda with the support of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance is expected to be bigger than the last with numerous additions which are collectively shaping up to make this conference the biggest on the continent thus far.

Here are the top three (3) things to look forward to before the event starts this week:

1. The Inclusion of Presidents!

As stated earlier, the President of Uganda, HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was part of speakers for the conference last year. He will join the Ugandan blockchain community once again this year but this time with his colleague from Sierra Leone.

The President of Sierra Leone, HE Julius Maasa Bio is scheduled to speak at the conference this week. He will be delivering a keynote speech on “Preparing Africa for the 4th Industrial Revolution”.

HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the President of Uganda will make his second appearance at the event as he expected to officiate and address delegates at the African Blockchain Conference 2019.

HE President Julius Maada is visiting Uganda on the invitation of HE @KagutaMuseveni who will also officiate and address delegates at the #AfricaBlockchainUG19 on Wed 3rd July 2019 @kampalaserena.

Per the status quo, the regulatory environment has mostly seen negative reactions from governments towards cryptocurrency, the most widely known application of blockchain technology.

The African Blockchain Conference will present a rare sight this year as two Heads of State are set to partake in a blockchain related event.

2. Africa 4.0 Tech Expo with Sophia the Robot

Alongside the main event, this years edition will feature a tech expo dubbed “Africa 4.0 Tech Expo”. The exposition will showcase the leading technology innovations and applications in Africa.

The biggest headline regarding the Africa 4.0 Tech Expo so far is the announcement of the arrival of Sophia the Robot on Ugandan soil.

We are excited to confirm that the world-famous humanoid robot, @RealSophiaRobot, will grace the two-day #AfricaBlockchainUG19 Conference and Tech Expo that will take place at the @kampalaserena.

The world-famous humanoid robot, Sophia, will grace the two-day Conference and Tech Expo that will take place at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

Sophia the Robot uses artificial intelligence, facial recognition, and visual data processing to function. Since her introduction in February 2016, Sophia has learned to display more than 50 facial expressions and was the first non-human to be given any United Nations title (United Nations Development Programme’s first-ever Innovation Champion for Asia and the Pacific) and is also the first robot to receive citizenship of any country.

3. 3,000 Thousand Guest and 50 Speakers +

3,000 people including experts, panelists, industry leaders, will discuss, and exchange ideas on a range of topics including; Africa’s readiness for the 4th Industrial Revolution, Fintech, Emerging Technologies, EdTech, SDGs & Technology for impact.

In a press statement, CryptoSavannah Director, Noah Baalesanvu said; the tech will be an education platform on how technology is evolving and how it can impact businesses for greater growth.

“As the conference focuses on preparing Africa for the 4IR, we will also run an expo which will showcase an experiential virtual tour and practical demonstrations of 4IR technologies,” said Noah.
