Australians can now pay for bitcoin at their local post office due to a new collaboration.

In an announcement made on June 24, users of Bitcoin.com.au will be able to buy bitcoin at more than 3,500 Australian post offices. These post offices will accept Australian dollars and EFTPOS (electronic funds at point of sale) payments for bitcoin purchases from Bitcoin.com.au through the Post Billpay service.

Also, part of the collaboration is Blueshyft, an Australian payment service on iOS that allows digital businesses to accept cash. This collaboration between Bitcoin.com.au and the Australian post office will make buying bitcoin a lot easier for Australian residents.

Further, Bitcoin.com.au is also working with 1,500 retail stores in the country to make bitcoin accessible to more people.

CEO of Bitcoin.com.au Hoger Arians hailed the new partnership as a significant milestone for cryptocurrency adoption.

“This is a major milestone for digital currency in Australia and around the world,” Arians said. “It proves that there are established businesses and organizations that want to learn about new technologies by doing, and not by blocking.”

Australia’s Post Head of Business and Government Financial Services Susan Nicholson said that allowing people to buy bitcoin is proof that they are committed to providing everyone with the services they need.

“Post Billpay has been one of Australia’s most trusted bill payment methods for over 20 years, and we’re pleased to now provide the ability for Bitcoin bills to be paid at a post office, which will come with a product enhancement that offers ID verification and real-time bill payment confirmation back to the biller,” Nicholson said.
