Bitcoin is seeing a lot of adoption in Nigeria, with one of the hurdles being instantly buying bitcoins with a bank card in Nigeria.  Several bitcoin exchanges accept different payment methods. However, most of them do not accept credit/debit cards.

Nevertheless, some legit platforms allow you to buy bitcoin that accepts credit card and debit cards. In this article, we look at how you can do this in Nigeria with Binance.

Step By Step Guide: Buy Bitcoin With Bank Cards In Nigeria on Binance

Binance is the largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume. It is available in several parts of the world and opened up its services to Nigeria in October 2019.

This update allows Nigerians to trade with the naira (NGN) directly on Binance, exchange cash for bitcoin directly on Binance P2P in Nigeria and buy crypto instantly with your credit or debit card using the steps below.

Here is a quick summary of the steps involved:

  1. Sign up on Binance.
  2. Hover on the ‘Buy Crypto’ tab on the website and select ‘Credit/Debit Card’ or select ‘Buy With Cash’ on the mobile up and choose ‘Credit/Debit Card.’
  3. Select FIAT currency eg.USD and the cryptocurrency eg.Bitcoin
  4. Click on ‘Buy BTC.’ 
  5. Enter your credit card information.
  6. Enter your billing information.
  7. Confirm purchase to receive your crypto.

Step #1 – Get a Binance account

You will need to get a Binance account to buy bitcoin with a debit/credit card in Nigeria. You can use our referral link to get a 20% discount on trading fees.

You will need to provide an email/telephone number and password to register. After, you will have to verify your email/phone number. Binance requires identity verification too. You can complete this using any government-issued ID card/document.

Now that you have an account, you are ready to buy bitcoin with a debit/credit card in Nigeria.

Step #2 – Purchase Bitcoin With Bank Card

You can buy bitcoin with a bank card via the mobile or desktop application or the web app. 

On the web app, click on ‘Buy Crypto’ on the navigation bar and select ‘Credit/Debit Card’ in the dropdown menu. On the other hand, click on ‘Credit/Debit Card’ on the launch page to proceed on mobile. 

On the new page, select your fiat currency. Since you are buying from Nigeria, select naira (NGN).

Next, you have to enter the amount of naira (NGN) you want to spend on buying bitcoin. Click on ‘Buy BTC’ to proceed.

Enter your name, card number, card expiration date, and security code. In most cases, you can find the three-digit code at the back of your card.

Click ‘Next’ to proceed.

After, enter the billing address for your bank card. It is best to enter accurate information during this step. A wrong address may cause your transaction to fail.

The next page that loads allow you to review your transaction for a final time. If you are ready to complete the transaction, click ‘Confirm.’

If the transaction goes through, you have successfully purchased bitcoin with a debit/credit card in Nigeria. It is important to note that you cannot move the coins purchased from the Binance platform in the first 24 hours. However, you can trade the bitcoin for other coins on the exchange.

Buying bitcoin with a credit/debit card can be complex sometimes. To ensure a smooth transaction, make sure you have enough balance for the transaction and potential fees from your banking service provider.

What’s more, enter the right personal info and billing address to avoid the cancelation of the transaction by the processor or bank.
